About the Role
Job Description:

Skill Set:
Early childhood teacher assistants must work with the classroom teacher to do the following:
Create cognitive, social emotional, gross motor and fine motor activities for students using a research based curriculum
Create and implement lesson plans, along with plans for individualization of students
Provide a nurturing environment which includes positive teacher-student interactions
Create a consistent classroom routine and work with a specific care group
Maintain individual child portfolios as well as classroom portfolios as specified by site director and NAEYC standards
Provide on-going assessment of students as well as individual assessments as required by the center.
Report children’s progress and assessments results to parents and document these reports utilizing forms provided by the center.
Maintain the cleanliness of each child in the classroom
Maintain excellent communication with parents through personal conversations upon child’s drop-off/pick-up and parent-teacher conferences
Provide an exceptional level of quality care to children at all times, demonstrating respect and value towards them as individuals and towards their families
Keep work area clean and in order. This includes putting away toys, sanitizing equipment, sweeping and mopping when necessary. A log must be kept of sanitization of equipment.
Complete a minimum of 30 hours of professional development per year.
Adhere to the center’s professional development plan.
Work with the site director to create yearly goals for the center.
Instruct students in and participate in family style meal service.
Complete attendance documents and meal participation records according to the guidelines of the center and State of Illinois
Adhere to all DCFS and Head Start standards and guidelines
Cooperate with all staff in a professional manner
Attend parent meetings, family literacy nights and other activities planned by the center.
Attend on-site professional developments per our yearly calendar
Be willing to assist with parent committees and subcommittees as needed.
Qualifications
Early childhood assistant teachers must be at least 19 years of age with an Associate’s Degree in ECE or Child Development
Early childhood teachers must be able to demonstrate the skill and competence necessary to contribute to each child’s physical, intellectual, personal, emotional and social development
ECE Level 4 / Infant Toddler Level 4 Credential or be willing to go back to school to obtain.
